"As soon as we got over there, there was a railway where you are [Heritage Centre site], there was all railway lines where your place is. And over the top we could get underneath the wagons and we were like the sparrows to these dockers. We were like the bloody sparrows. You know they'd just walk .. 'Go on get out of the bloody road'. The docks were such a big area that nobody could police it. I mean there wasn't men everywhere. I mean round the basin, around No 9 Dock itself. Well if you went there more often than not they'd give you a scutch across the ear, and just say 'Go on, get off'. Well what do you do? You get off and go and worry somebody else on No 8 Dock. And err, I'm telling you I've been in every works on Trafford Park Road, I'm not denying it. Not thieving, but adventure. I never had any gain from it. "
